Rest In Peace Nora Ephron (1941-2012)

Posted in death, life, people, the biz on June 26, 2012 by Robin Eller

Nora Ephron wrote some of my favorite movies. The Deli scene in, “When Harry Met Sally. “I’ll have what she’s having.” Genius!! She was the voice of women in a male dominated world of writer/directors and producers. Nora Ephron’s writing in Julie and Julia made me fall love with Julia Childs. Of course it had two of my favorite actors, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci. I remember seeing one of my best friends in a play on Broadway that was written by Nora Ephron, Imaginary Friends. I thought she was quite clever. I have yet to read her book: I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Thoughts About Being A Woman. I can only imagine the book is as clever as her other body of work. Oh it breaks my heart that another incredible talent has transitioned from this physical plane. There must be some amazing stage on the other side. Thank you Nora for speaking from a woman’s perspective. Your creativity will be sorely missed.

June Is Audiobook Month (#JIAM 2012)- What Are You Listening To?

The month of June has been Audiobook Month. Oh time has not been on my side to post about this until now. Mamma Mia! There have been so many great posts promoting Audiobooks this month. Have you ever listened to an audiobook? I do have some favorite Narrators that I aspire to be like. I also hope to come close to recording as many books as they have been so fortunate to record: Dion Graham, Cassandra Campbell, Scott Brick, Johnny Heller, Katy Kellgren, Tavia Gilbert, Simon Vance, Simon Prebble, Grover Gardner, Robin Miles, Coleen Marlo, Mirron Willis, Hilary Huber, Kathe Mazur, Robin Sachs and the list goes on. My horizon has becoming brighter as I journey down the road as an Audiobook Narrator. One day I’ll be looking back at this post and having that “I remember when..moment.”

Here’s to books! If you haven’t listened to an Audiobook.. go ahead.. I dare you! Why not try one in support of Audiobook Month? There are still five days left in this month and there’s still the rest of the year to give a listen or two.. or even three! You might not like your first one. I’ll tell you a secret… I didn’t. However, I didn’t give up because I knew that I would find books and Narrators that I would enjoy listening to and I have. I salute my fellow Narrators: Thank you to those narrators who have paved the way for me to have become a member of a very special group. We love to tell stories and truly care about the way we tell these stories for the author.

Happy Father’s Day to the Fathers, Grandfathers, Stepfathers, Uncles, Brothers, Teachers, Coaches and Father Figures who have made a difference in a child’s life. Cheers to the special men who have stepped up to be a presence in their child’s life; give unconditional love, support, instill confidence and place a child’s needs ahead of his own.

There is nothing better than seeing cute photos that just make my day. This bull dog put a smile on my face. An example of nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it.
